Penalty kicks are a decidedly cruel format for deciding championships.  Quite often the team who performed best over the 90 minutes go home empty handed because the opposing team had the better penalty takers. There are several excellent tips for football that a penalty taker should use when taking a penalty.

There are two types of football penalty takers "blasters" and "placers".   Blasters aim to beat the keepers with a forceful strike that speeds past the keeper giving him virtually no time to react.Placers use a different technique executed with the side of the boot to place the ball usually right in the corner.  This penalty technique provides less power but greater accuracy.

Learning the basics in a handoff is essential to a strong offense. Let's look at a simple hand off between a quarterback and a running back to point out the fundamentals of this skill. As the running back runs off with the football it is important to stay low to increase agility and speed.

Points on tackling safely and effectively. It has been stated many times that a defensive teams win games, and the most fundamental part of a defensive team is performing a great tackle.First, you need to stop the opponent quickly so make sure to place yourself directly in front of the opponent's path. An excellent technique is to plant your foot in the middle of your opponents.

Second you want to bring your other foot into the mix, and at the same time throw your arms up and around your opponent. As your feet plants your head should be making its first contact. To protect yourself never, ever try to tackle with the crown of your head, but instead keep your head back, and your head square.

One of the fundamental aspects of running with a football is ball security. There is nothing worse than almost getting a first down or even a touchdown and fumbling the ball, for this reason there is a great need for ball security.

Dot drilling.Conditioning drills are effective in training and helping athletes be strong and reactive. The intent of this drill is to increase accuracy, timing, and speed. Setting up this drill is very simple, you will need five markers placed about a foot apart in an x formation with one of the dots being in the center surrounded by four other dots in a square formation.

Deceive the Goalie. The goalie will try and guess the direction a player will strike the ball based on their body language and eye movement.  Therefore the penalty taker must sufficiently deceive the keeper with their pre shot set up.  The player should angle themselves off the side of the ball before deciding exactly what they will do with the ball.

Catching the football properly and effectively is fundamental to a strong offense. The points of a proper catch are: First, opening up your hands with an open triangle. Second, keep your eyes on the ball through the entire catch. Third, secure the ball tight and high against your ribs, forearm, and biceps. Many receivers can get into a bad habit of looking away from the ball before it is stored away properly. This increases fumbles and turnovers.
